Poem sent to us by Wendy Raymer, Hull:

Marazion Beach

CORNISH HOLIDAY
(The same yesterday, today and tomorrow)

Page 1

Back to Cornwall
In summertime
Choose to relax
In warmer clime.

Marazion,
St. Michael's Mount
Seagulls wheeling
Too many to count.

Crying, soaring,
Circling, squawking,
Greedy, hoping
Lunch is waiting!

Sapphire blue sea
And golden sand,
A jewel in
Our pleasant land.

Penzance harbour
With working boats.
Smell of seaweed
Colourful floats.

Shark fishing craft,
Swaying and bobbing
In gentle swell
Scillonian docking.

Promenade with
Flags-a-flying,
Gig boats out
Each one trying

To outdo the
Opposing crew,
Labouring, stretching
Every sinew.

Newlyn harbour,
Lights-a-twinkling
Across the bay
Sun is sinking.

Mousehole village
Cottages small,
Lads-a-Ieaping
From the sea wall.

Lamorna Cove
And Porthcurno
With sands so fine
As well we know.

This crystal sea
And sloping beach
Crashing waves
Just out of reach.

Porthgwarra and
Nanjizal Bay,
Walking, climbing
Along the way.

Cape Cornwall next,
For scenic view
Of the Brisons
And Lands End too

Page 2

Sennen Cove and
Whitesands Bay
Enjoy the surf
And hope to stay

A wee bit longer
On the sand
Have a paddle
Close at hand.

At Lands End the
Seas-a-crashing
Round the Longships
Foaming splashing.

Panorama
And sunset's glow
We're content with
Places we know.

St. Ives is still
A mecca for
Artist's brushes
At Porthmeor.

Sun bronzed surfers
And suntan creams
Chasing rollers
And living dreams.

Bumbles Tea Room
Cosy and neat
There's no doubt it's
The place to eat.

Pendeen Light and
Geevor tin mine
Engine houses
Have had their time.

Zennor, Bronze Age
Burial mounds,
Lanyon_Quoit
And seabird sounds

Hayle Towans,
Godrevy Light,
Dolphins leaping
Wonderful sight.

Trengwainton Gardens,
They are a must,
Now owned by the
National Trust.

Rhododendron
And tall bamboo,
Ancient Tree Ferns
Will delight you.

Tearooms beckon
For scones and cake
All so tasty
Whatever you take.

Special day and
Off to Truro
Have some fun with
Harry and Jago. *

Porthtowan beach
st. Agnes Head,
Walk on cliff top
With careful tread.

Lizard beckons
Us to visit
Kynance Cove in
Just a minute.

Church and Dollar Coves,
Old Cornish charm,
More cream teas at
Trenowath Farm.

Falmouth Docks
And Carrick Roads,
River Fal trips
Takes coach loads.

Pendennis Castle
And on to Gweek
To see the seals
Saved just this week.

When all of this
Is said and done
There's nowhere like
Trevarthian.
